Pune woman loses son to cancer, his twins are born to a surrogate mother
Prathamesh, who was unmarried, had nominated his mother and sister, Dnyanashree, to use his semen sample after his death.
“I have got my Prathamesh back.” That’s what Rajashree Patil said when twins were born to a surrogate mother in Pune. After her 27-year-old son, Prathamesh, died of brain cancer two years ago, Rajashree refused to mourn and instead used her son’s cryopreserved semen for a surrogate pregnancy. The twins were born on February 12 and Rajashree (48) named them Prathamesh and Preesha (God’s gift).
“I was very attached to my son. He was academically brilliant and was pursuing his Master’s degree in engineering in Germany when he was diagnosed with a Stage IV cancerous tumour in the brain. Doctors had asked Prathamesh to preserve his semen before starting chemotherapy and radiation,” she said. Prathamesh, who was unmarried, had nominated his mother and sister, Dnyanashree, to use his semen sample after his death. Then, Rajashree had not realised this would be a means to get ‘her own son’ back.
At the hospital, she chides visitors for calling her a grandmother. “I am their mother now,” said Rajashree, a teacher at a private school at Mukundnagar. The cryopreserved semen was used to fertilize a non-family anonymous donor egg and the embryo was then implanted in a close relative. “I am menopausal, so doctors ruled me out for the pregnancy. A married relative offered to be the surrogate mother and she handed over the twins to me the minute they were born,” said Rajashree.
After graduating from Sinhgad College of Engineering, Prathamesh moved to Germany in 2010 for his Master’s degree. In 2013, he was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour and lost his vision. His family brought him back to India and sought treatment from Hinduja hospital in Mumbai. “The doctors here, especially Dr Milind Sankhe, treated him and we got another three years with our son,” Rajashree and her husband Narayan said.
“Not once did my son complain of a headache or vomiting. Relatives who were cautious and wondered how to console him, drew inspiration from him instead. He taught German to students and guided my daughter who was in class XII and also preparing for JEE,” said Rajashree.
The cancer recurred in 2016 and Prathamesh soon lost his speech and was bedridden. He died on September 3 that year. “My daughter stopped talking. I walked around with my son’s photo, kept it at the dinner table and served food. That’s when I thought, why not have some part of him that is ‘live’ and can be with us,” she said.
Driven with a purpose of ‘getting her Prathamesh back’, Rajashree completed the formalities at the semen bank in Germany and approached Sahyadri Hospitals, Nagar Road for an in vitro fertilisation (IVF) procedure.
Dr. Supriya Puranik, IVF specialist at Sahyadri hospital, said IVF procedures were routine but this case was unique as a grief-stricken mother wanted to get her son back at any cost. “She was extremely positive about the entire pregnancy,” said Dr Puranik.

Our journey to kids started from 2011 after two years from our marriage. We had visited multiple infertility centers/specialists, lately we had our first success through IVF in 2012 and very unfortunately it went aborted in third month. With the first time success in mind, we went for multiple iterations of the treatment and got success in 2016 but again the fate, it got aborted. We were totally nervous and not able to concentrate on anything both personally and professionally. Literally with all these medicines, resistance power of the body came down and struggled a lot with health issues.
Finally, after getting to know from couple of our friends and reviews, we have approached Dr. Padmaja madam and she assured that our case is very normal one and we would be definitely get succeeded in our journey.
I would like to thanks Dr. Padmaja Madam and Diwakar Reddy Sir for the kind of moral support/encouragement/guidance provided when we reached out to their center during the counselling sessions.
At a smaller age, we have seen many things which we did not expect and finally we opted for Surrogacy. Thanks to the supporting staff Jyotsna, Madhavi and Bhargavi madam’s. The staff were very co-operative and they understood the pain points and guided us in getting all the formalities done very quickly to kick off the process. When initially visited to Bhongir premises to check how it looks like, we were received by Bhargavi and shown, explained on the daily cycle of surrogates and what they offer to them. It was a pleasant experience and we were very much satisfied with that.
I am very thankful to the doctor’s team and the entire supporting staff as we have got our success with Surrogacy program and are feeling proud as TO BE PARENTS. I would like to thanks Dr. Padmaja Madam and Diwakar Reddy Sir for the kind of moral support provided when we reached out to their center.
This entire process is very transparent and we get all the reports/details as and when they complete at their end. Out of anxiety, I might have troubled Jyotsna/Bhargavi asking for an update/status but they never hesitated to do and always answered the call or did a text to me on the status.
After posting our results on the page, I have received around 5 calls who would like to go for this and I took time in explaining them on how it would be and shared my experience. I would strongly recommend infertile couples to visit this center and get the fruit of it. This is based on my personal experience

:: AN APPEAL TO THE GOVT. OF INDIA TO CONSIDER POSITIVELY::
Sir,
Actually there's huge need among women with uterine health problems like born without uterus, with malformed uterus, removed for medical reasons, cardiac /Renal problems, unexplained recurrent miscarriages or multiple IVF failures etc, for surrogacy genuinely n there are equal number of fit women voluntarily ready to help, leave apart so many service providers being ready to help....
There being no single complaint from any Commissioning Couple nor any Surrogate nor any there was any mishap concerning health of any surrogate or baby born etc, there is no need to stop it or put a hold on it and as the Surrogacy Bill 2016 if in the offing in next session of parliament and all of us the ART Centres are eagerly waiting for it !!!
It's all media creating a commotion, for their popularity recently in our Hyderabad ...!!!
It is humbly submitted to the government and decision makers in health department by all stake holders like genuinely need women with 'uterine health issues' who can't bear the child but have scope of having own 'baby' using their Sperm n Oocyte (sometimes a donor gamete in necessity of course which again is legal n done with consent) taking help of a voluntarily agreeing co-women (may be with a compensation in lieu of n for loss of 10 month working days, as mutually agreed) to help carrying her baby since she can't carry for medical reasons, and not for any "fancy reasons" as mistaken by media n as officials are mislead by crazy media, to consider to allow the surrogacy to be in. vogue as, this has been in place for last 15 years and so many otherwise helpless women with no uterus by birth, uterus lost for cancer or medical reasons, uterus malformed, cardiac or renal problems, hypertension or diabetes, recurrent miscarriages or multiple IVF failures, have been blessed with their own baby and living life head high, as in our culture a women who couldn't give birth face a lot of social stigma....
There have been no particular complaint from any stake holders like 'Gestational carriers (surrogates)', commissioning couples or service providers interalia nor any such litigation cases pending between them in any court of law...a little bit of such ended up totally with a right decision of the government banning service to foreigners, sometime back itself.
Of course it's a prerogative for the Government to take any decision but considering the "impracticability" of a close relative only to be appointed as surrogate, the existing system may be kept in vogue, just considering the helpless innocent women's (not only affluent as often commented but middle classes too) woes who otherwise can't see their own genetic baby born to keep her head high and enjoy her life in In-Laws’ home...
We, all the stake holders, and genuinely needy women folk of the country, request the Honourable Prime Minister, the leader of the masses, The visionary of emerging India, The guiding force for the youth in the country, A Bhaiya for the women folk of India to give a deep positive thought by reconsidering the Surrogacy in our country which is not a social evil but a necessity for genuinely needy woman, and keep it in vogue as a “Compensated Surrogacy” and the woman folk of India would worship Shree Modi jee as a “Saviour” by saving the last hope for Infertile Woman with uteri8ne issues.
The health department lead by all senior and bold officials may too look into the institution of surrogacy, which is a part of ART in our country, with all deep concern and right analysis. The recent survey of Saikiran hospitals in Hyderabad, as stated by the management, is a 'financial dispute' among some people associated with them in this project as partners...which lead to this big chaos, without any actual complaint from any stake holder like "Commissioning Couples" or "Gestational Carriers(Surrogates)" or service providers inter alia....
Surrogacy is not just 'bread n butter' for Fertility Centres, but a humane service to the helpless infertile women with just uterine health issues and bad luck of miscarriages, cardiac problems, failures etc.,
Calling it commercial activity, "Dandhaa", "Racket", "business" etc is uncalled for on part of media, which worldwide always see everything negatively without public concerns n issues....
In our Centre, like some other main service providers across India, have seen hundreds of young women with husband consent, voluntarily coming forward, not only for little 'compensation' but with a 'Big Heart' to help the helpless co-women to be blessed with birth of her 'genetic baby' to live in with due respect in society and it's a world wide phenomenon particularly in liberalist countries and societies like ours...
We pray the media and officials and organisations to see this as a small field where a humanely arrangement is made as a part of Infertility Treatment services but not for any 'unlawful gain' by hospitals as often commented by media ....we have seen all surrogates worked in last a decade, are back home and leading a normal life with their children and families and the hundreds of babies born through this yeoman medical service system of Assisted Reproductive Systems in our country, are living safely with their genetic parents....one has to appreciate the things being this systematic even without a law in place guiding them ....medical service people always look at the welfare of the people but not only money as alleged, at least in India and we should be proud of it...
All medical fraternity of the country request the Government not to be prejudiced on their services but regulate it wherever there is a need for, with a positive analysis and finally take a bold step "regulating" it but not stalling it...

This's the last attempt to save the system helping out many an infertile woman with uterine health issues as the last resort, by getting this petition singed in thousands and submitted to the concerned....pls do it fast and share to other groups on Facebook/WhatsApp and other social media, to make it possible in a big way....
The women with uterine health issues like, uterus absent by birth, malformed uterus, removed for any health reasons like cancer, recurrent abortions/miscarriages, multiple ivf failures, cardiac/renal/hypertension/diabetis kind of health issues feel it as a boon in disguise, to take service of another women sometimes within family or an outsider offering some remuneration for loss of working days, little more health concerns....!!!
It should not be compared with something like organ donation or slavery or utilisation of a human for some unlawful purpose but should piously be viewed as a woman helping out another on genuine reasons, of course some money is paid in lieu of the time spared and help extended.
There haven't been any disputes for all last one and half a decade, among any two stake holders like surrogates (aptly called as 'gestational carriers'), intending parents(lately called as 'commissioning couples') or service providers on any issues like health of surrogates, claim on babies born, remuneration to surrogates or breach of contract etc except one or two stray incidents of foreign couples like of baby gammy case etc, which need not be considered while examining allowing of this wonderful process for helpless woman to achieve motherhood, a cherished wish of any Indian woman in our given culture and social perceptions.
Adoption can never be an alternative to this arrangement however nobler it may be otherwise, and which option always be left over for suhnobler couples but having an offspring is largely opted by any one and taking away that opportunity from such helpless women on all hypothetical analysis put forth by some organisations is not a justified thing, depriving of an opportunity for many a woman to save her marriage, since incapability of child bearing often lead to breakage of Indian marriage..!!
In light of these above facts, it's apt to consider the comprehensive ART bill drafted in 2010 by PMBhargava Committee after a long deliberations with any suitable small functional corrections by parliament withholding the limited purpose bill 2016, to cover all issues concerned like ivf, gamete donation, and everything involved in Assisted Reoroductuve Techniques field in our country, where all concerned issues too could be regulated Iike standards and ethics of medical services concerned, age and health related concerns, books and records maintainance, formation of governmental agencies to regulate the field of activity are envisaged accordingly keeping in view the welfare of all involved.
There is ofcourse every reason to avoid services to foreigners as it paves way for multiple legal problems like citizenship issues, breakup of couples while it's in progress, abandonment of a child born for any reasons as are already seen in the last decade long service not only in India but elsewhere in the world, but considering it for OCIs is a genuinely justified as they are part of Indian society.
Before, taking a drastic step of total ban on commercial allowing altruistic one only which is almost impossible in the given present day Indian social scenarios and but for emergence of nuclear family system of late, would affect innumerable infertile woman with said uterine health issues depriving them of an opportunity to have cherished motherhood, where women just not for the money involved, are volunteering for the cause as it gives them immense satisfaction in seeing a smile on the face of a co woman.
The unscrupulous arguments like the is used for child trafficking, harvesting of organs for transplantation etc are baseless and wouldn't be resorted to by any one at least for the costs involved in the whole process and is monitored by the registered health service providers.
In the light of above facts, the 2010 draft of ART Bill may be examined and considered to have a comprehensive law on the field of human reproduction and fertility medicine in modern India.

Prashanthi Srikanth in the last week We are very thankful and grateful to the entire team at Dr. Padmaja IVF Center, Husbiguda. We have chosen this location after multiple failures at a well known hospital in Hyderabad who were greedy and unprofessional. As me and my husband were doing research online we came across Dr. Padmaja IVF and immediately we contacted Divakar Gaaru who is such a down to earth person, He responded within few seconds & talked to both of us and explained us about the entire process. He made sure that Jyosna reach out to us to explain on what needs to be done there after. We reached India for treatment in December 2015 and once we saw Dr. Padmaja we felt we were in great hands, she is very patient, has deep medical knowledge and a positive attitude. The entire staff at Husbiguda know their duties very well. I have never seen a single staff member in my entire 30 day treatment sitting or standing idle, they are constantly trying to help the patients with lot of care and attention. Our embryo transfer to the surrogate happened in mid Jan 2016 and we came back to the states praying god for positive news. After 2 weeks from the date of transfer we heard from Jyosna that the test is positive. The surrogate was shifted to Bhongir and we were in touch with Bhargavi who is such a humble and nice person i have ever met, we used to call her every week to know the details on how the surrogate is doing and she never put us down for anything. she has such a vibrant personality who is always cheerful to talk. Inspite of being so busy at Bhongir Bhargavi always responds to calls and sends a Whats app message if she is unable to take our call. Most of all the staff at Bhongir never ever forgot to send us the medical documents every month, such is the discipline of the staff at Bhongir. Another nice person to talk about is Ashok Gaaru at Bhongir who manages his duties very efficiently. We reached India couple of weeks before the Delivery and were able to see our surrogate, i was surpirsed by seeing the utmost care the staff was taking towards each and every surrogate and on the day of the delivery our surrogate was brought to Hubsiguda on time and everything was well planned and organised. We never had to complain about anything. Madhavi helped us feel relaxed during the final hours as me and my husband were so stressed. She is another person who handles the clients with a calm and charming attitude. After long wait we were blessed with a baby girl on September 12th, the pediatrician was already there during and after the delivery to make sure any emergency is addressed. Immediately after the delivery our Baby was handed over to us. The Joy of having a baby cannot be explained in words which can only be fulfilled by experienced and knowledgeable doctors like Dr. Padmaja Gaaru. Me and my entire family are so thankful and grateful to Dr. Padmaja Gaaru, Divakar Gaaru & the entire staff at Dr. Padmaja IVF Center Hubsiguda and Navya Nursing Home, Bhongir. We would also like to thank our Surrogate for carrying our child with care and love and finally we want to thank god for his gracious blessings as he is the one who made us choose this clinic. Last Year December we came to this clinic in hope of having a child and within 9 months our wish was fulfilled, Our Baby is 3 and half months now.

The PCPNDT (Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques) Act is one of the most draconian in the country, and doctors are being jailed for performing clerical errors in filling up the infamous Form F. The tragedy is that it has now been over 14 years since the Act was passed, and there's no evidence that it has helped to improve the sex ratio. It is high time we acknowledged that it is a badly crafted piece of legislation which has not served its purpose.
Part of the reason is because doctors were indifferent when the Act was being drafted, and we are now paying the price for this silence. Many doctors have stopped doing ultrasound scans during pregnancy, because they don't want to be harassed by overzealous officials; and pregnant women suffer because they are being deprived of access to this life-saving diagnostic technology.
The bigger tragedy is that we haven't learned from our mistakes, and exactly the same errors are being made during the drafting and passage of the ART Act, which is designed to regulate the practice of IVF in India.
For example, the ICMR guidelines today state that can only be performed for married couples, and there is a very high probability that this provision will be incorporated in the law, which means that will be banned for single men, single women and gays.
The guidelines have been designed in order to protect surrogates, and this is a laudable goal. However, they seem to be drafted by officials and activists who do not treat patients, and have no idea about what happens in clinical practice. IVF doctors are portrayed as being greedy mercenaries who exploit poor women, and do in order to earn more money and this misrepresentation has created a lot of conflict and tension.
In order to bridge this gap of misunderstanding, IVF doctors should invite officials and activists to their clinics so they can see the good work we are doing. We need to engage with them, so we can work as partners, and together draft a law which helps infertile couples to get the best medical care.
Doctors and patients cannot afford to keep quiet while the law is being drafted - we need to make our voice heard. The danger is that if we do not contribute to this debate, may end up being banned completely, under the pretext of protecting the surrogates. is an ethical means of family building - all we need to do is to make sure that it is regulated properly, so that it is not misused.
Sadly, IVF doctors are not united , and they have failed to speak up on behalf of their patients. Most doctors are so busy taking care of their patients that they don't have time to explain facts to officials in the Health Ministry and Parliament.
IVF doctors and infertile patients need to appoint a full-time lobbyist - for example, a retired senior professor of OB/GYN, who understands what is needed to create a win-win situation because she has treated infertile couples herself. She will command respect because of her medical expertise and experience; and she will be able to ensure that the voice of IVF doctors and infertile patients is heard in the corridors of power, so that the law will be fair to our infertile patients!
Sadly, the real life success stories - the celebrity patients who have benefited from - are not willing to speak up, because they don't see why they should bother to do so after they have successfully completed their family. Why should they care if others are deprived of the treatment in the future?
Celebrities have an important role to play in shaping public opinion because they are looked up to as role models by citizens. For example, Tusshar Kapoor should stand up for the rights of single men. He can take advantage of his public profile to ensure that they also have the freedom to use this option which has given him so much joy, in order to complete their own families in the future. Otherwise, vocal NGOs will get away with banning and single men will suffer, because IVF doctors will no longer be able to help them.
We need to get Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Tusshar Kapoor along with their IVF doctors on a TV show, so they can debate the pros and cons of banning with the activists who so vociferously want to prohibit it. This debate would allow Indians to get a realistic view as to why can be such a great reproductive option for building a family. This is the kind of open debate we need to ensure that public opinion is heard when the law is finally framed.
No one reading this article can afford to remain a silent spectator. You might think this does not concern you, but remember that this law will affect your rights, as well as the rights of your children. The ART bill affects all potential parents, because 10 percent of all married couples will have fertility issues and will need medical help to have a baby. The tragedy is that if we keep quiet at this juncture, articulate activists will get their way, and single Indian men, women and gays will no longer be able to pursue the same path Tusshar Kapoor did, because the law will prohibit them from doing . Laws which affect reproductive rights are too important to be left up to lawmakers alone.
India has always prided itself on being a broad-minded, permissive society, and we cannot keep quiet and allow a vocal minority to hijack the issue. Please speak to your doctor so he/she can explain what is at stake here.
IVF doctors and celebrities need to use their combined clout to make sure that the IVF law which will be passed is permissive and progressive. The goal should be to secure reproductive freedom for Indians, so that their reproductive rights are not curtailed.

If I would not have heard this story on my own, I wouldn’t be ashamed to be a journalist as I was two days ago. A doctor told me this real story and since then I am feeling like I should be ashamed and pity myself for all my life.
Sometimes you are not aware of the things happening in your profession. Sometimes they unfold as gentle as a silk and sometimes as a bundle of a barbed wire.
We had gone to Kanha National Park for Tiger Safari. In our excursion group we had a doctor from Jabalpur. As soon as we reached Kanha, heavy downpour began and electricity went off. We were sitting in the verandah of our guest house, listening to deer and barasingha bleating. I and this doctor picked up a conversation about professions. Me a reporter and this doctor from Jabalpur, started sharing our experiences.
What I heard next was the biggest blow to my ego and my face went down in shame, maybe forever.
Doctor was narrating the story. “I am a pediatrician. For some people, it has become a habit to abuse doctors, as it earns a cheap applaud from the rest of the society. If your patient recovers you are a god! Else you are a demon! Even in your TV and newspaper you put all your creative efforts to create a headline like “Doctor turned killer!” “Doctors or dacoits” and much more. Do you really investigate in depth about the authenticity of the news you ae publishing? Do you really take the pain to dig deeper for the truth behind the story sent to you by your reporter? I requested him to share the full story with me.
“We treat many thalassemia patients in our hospital. As you know, these patients require repeated blood transfusion in regular interval. Many times we manage blood from the relatives of the patient, sometimes we get no donor even for the transfusion. For some patients, the frequency of transfusion is so high that their relatives even give up and refuse to donate anymore. In this context, I would like to mention about a child from Jabalpur who used to come to our hospital often for the treatment of thalassemia.
Once my health was not good and I was on leave. At that time the child was brought to our hospital in an emergency. The child was in need of blood. Blood had to be replaced immediately. None of his family members were ready to give blood. Even before anyone had not given him blood. Our hospital would arrange blood for that child. Frankly, the entire hospital was in love with that baby and we were attached emotionally to him. On that day, when he was brought to the hospital, his condition was very serious.
One of our lady doctors was taking care of that child. The child's condition was deteriorating. He was admitted immediately. But unfortunately, we couldn’t save the child.
After the death of the child in the hospital, his relatives were shocked and they created a scene. They approached the media and told that the child was given the wrong blood. These reports were published in newspapers. Because of this, the entire medical career of the doctor was destroyed.
What happened next will explain later. But for now, it is important to note that the doctor had a media trial.
After a couple of days when my health was good, I reached the hospital. I called the father of that child and spoke to him. His father said that he was not knowing from where the blood was brought up. My child died because of the wrong blood.
I was listening to him quietly. I asked him that your child had received blood from this hospital number of times, but do you know where from that blood comes?He was stunned. Have you or any of your family members ever had donated blood for your child?
He remained silent.
You should know that till now mankind has not learned how to make blood. Whenever the need of blood arises it is given from someone else. We take blood from the relatives of the patient. But when they cannot donate their blood and the condition of the patient is grave, we turn to the blood banks. But when the blood banks are unable to provide us blood, we doctors give our own blood to the patient. You or any of your family members have never given a single drop of blood till date, while your child is given blood every fifteen days.
They were listening to me quietly.
“Listen sir, this time the blood that was given to your child, it was from one of those doctors, because of whom your child was alive for so many years. The blood of that very doctor was used to be given to your child on whom you had made allegations of negligence, eventually ruining her medical career by media trial. That lady doctor was donating her blood to your child ever since your child started visiting us. I don’t know why but she was very affectionate towards your child.
Some years ago, when you came here for the first time and your child was not able to get any matching blood donor; at that time the lady doctor had conducted her blood test. Your child’s and the doctor’s blood group matched. The other day also when you came in the emergency, she was the one who gave her blood. Her blood was already examined.
The situation was grave, your child could not survive. But you created a ruckus without even knowing the entire situation. You made false allegations on that very doctor who looked after your child as a mother, not as a doctor.”
The doctor got silent after saying this.
I was trying hard to hide my face from the doctor so that he could not see my emotions in the brightness of the light. I had read that report earlier. I could recall that a news had been published about the death of the child due to the doctor’s negligence.
I cursed the doctors a lot. I even compared them to an executioner. I used to have a strong feeling that these doctors don’t value anything over money. This was a government hospital, but I too had said that the doctors in a government hospital are really lazy and apathetic. They are devoid of any feelings for the patient. What not had I thought!
But all of my thoughts were baseless. I had just formed an opinion based on a one-sided report.
The other side of the story was now revealed to me.
I asked the doctor, “What happened then?”
The doctor answered, “What else could happen? The doctor had to face a lot of trouble and was mentally harassed. She had to leave the medical college as well as the town. The child’s father felt really embarrassed after listening to all this. He realized that he had committed a big mistake unknowingly. He had been unaware all this time as to where from the doctors had been arranging blood for his child all this time which had kept him alive and in good spirits. But nothing could be done now. Time had swept out of his hands swiftly.”
It is very important to realize that there are both good and bad people in this world. Not all people in the world are bad, in the same manner as not all are good. But before spoiling someone’s hard-earned reputation, it becomes very crucial to know the truth behind the happenings.
It is not denying the fact that the child had died that day, but it is also true that the lady doctor who had faced allegations for this mishap also died a bit inside.

A group of people categorised as overseas citizens of India (OCIs) have challenged a Central notification disallowing them from commissioning surrogate children in the country. In a petition before the Supreme Court, the OCIs termed the move as discriminatory.
Taking up the petition on Thursday, a bench of justices Ranjan Gogoi and NV Ramana asked the government to explain the logic behind leaving the OCIs out in the notification, even as the proposed law does not envisage it.
The SC is hearing a PIL filed by an advocate Jayashree Wad who complained that India had become a major hub for commercial in the world due to unregulated practice of the trade.
The Centre issued a notification in November to regulate commercial IVF in india, considered to be a $445 million annual business. As a part of stringent measures, the government banned import of human embryo except for research.
“Under what authority of law have you imposed this ban? Even the draft bill does not contemplate it,” the bench asked the government counsel who assured the court to be back with a response on April 13.
The judges also asked the government to spell out the fate of the bill that was to be tabled before the Parliament. They recalled that the solicitor general had on October 2015 said the bill was at a consultative stage and would be introduced in the Parliament soon.
“More than three months have passed what happened to the consultative process?” the bench asked the government advocate who said the bill was now pending before a parliamentary standing committee.
The orders issued on November 3 and 4 last year said stated that no Indian mission or foreign office shall issue visa to foreign nationals for this purpose. The detailed advisory by the MHA and health ministry go a step further to stop commercial even as the government works on a legislation to bar foreigners from renting a womb in India.
During the hearing, the bench indicated staying the notification in favour of the OCIs. However, on the request of the government counsel it did not issue any order.
The counsel said the purpose behind the notification was to extend the benefit to the “infertile Indian parents.”
“What is the law or mechanism by which you are stopping them (OCIs)? What is the policy? This is contrary to your bill,” Justice Gogoi heading the bench observed.
The Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) scheme launched in 2005 provides for registration as OCIs of all persons of Indian origin (PIOs) who were Indian citizens from January 26, 1950 or were eligible to become Indian citizens on that date and who are citizens of other countries, except Pakistan and Bangladesh.

That's the way me n Mam plan and work and try to have you all such brilliant, wise, understanding n committed colleagues where we could take this small n tiny organisation from a 'scratch' to this levels n where we all 'a family we believe n regard upon' can flourish as a 'team' n have possibly good life n meet out family responsibilities enjoying working fur realising the "dreams" of desperate infertile couple, blessing us by giving an opportunity to serve them....!!!
In present situation if I was Haripriya, named head of IVF & Donors Department so early just on joining, should have done that way n strive hard to show up my presence fruitful n achieving the goals n accomplish still more bright place for the beloved organisation where people are coming with a lot of hope n expectation, in the field where others could not do that convincingly !!! and would have shown all interest in the assignments given to me, shd have made a list of Providers, Donors n shd have made present donors as new providers n work on procuring quality donors which is an easy job if I kept it in my mind n it would have been a suicidal thing for me if I couldn't even know 'ongoing' donors leave apart the agents/previous donors/coming up donors etc, though I know that of course it's is not a'cakewalk' ...!!!
Of course, realisation on an 'eye-opener' from 'head of my lovely organisation' is a welcome thing n you have all qualities, capacities, efficiencies but what you need is, all the zeal, enthusiasm, plan n a goal, which, if you feel could do, is not impossible but lastly I just want to put it to you that in this kind of place we, the others including me wouldn't leave but take up the things left over with by you or any other PROs or Doctors or Staff will immediately take over such left over things n run fast to save it from eroding further as otherwise it takes very little time for our beloved clients to keep us aside n look out for their own alternatives n choices n options...!!!

As this explains how an organisation can 'ruin' fast though built with all 'sweat n blood' of a 'big team' for 'so long' period of 18 years, of course these are a bit 'Expansion Blues' too, where so called 'owners' just getting into backseat leaving the 'steering' to all new people of course efficient but without a commitment on par with 'so called owners' but 'our Co is of all of us, the wonderful Team@PFC we believe n where each one has his/her "share of fruits" but if the 'tree' isn't cared for all would loose all such 'sweet fruits' just in a while as its easy for a tree to fall down or even cut down but you all know pretty well how difficult is to bring it up to stand tall where all 'odds' would be working against it...!!!

Actually 'the men' (staff) so called have lot of potency n that's why they are chosen out of a big lot specifically n they either don't assess theirs or suffer from odds like lethargy or unplannedness or attitude problems, in meaningful egos n such negatives but once sharpened, cleansed, activated, guided, inspired could do wonders ... Always try understand things in a subjective angle ... you particularly are a 'wonderful' guy but use 10% of the total potentiality n energy ... I would have been a bad manager if I missed retaining you or didn't try moulding you to suit the slot here, of course we can't win in all situations but could in your case as you are a person with all sharp grasp, love, warmth, live lively each moment, poised to learn new things, brave to face, cry like a child, act like a warrior but need to be a bit more planned in using the day, shun some attitude things, egos, mould self more fatherly to the clientele etc as I see (if you don't get irritated), always see things to help others not looking at their responses very much as we expected, be bit more bold, not get easily irritated, think a bit more positively to be in the social fold ...after all life is to live each moment lively with all happiness n nothing but happiness, which at last is the ultimate essence of life, deriving which of course is hypnotically with no particular philosophy as it itself is a philosophy...keep it up n keep refining your own self in the way you just think fit, as me or anybody just only can guide, advise n try moulding but can't drag you where you don't want to head on !!!........as written to Jyotsna, PRO as part of training her to do wonders @ PFC....!!!

Our journey to kids started from 2011 after two years from our marriage. We had visited multiple infertility centers/specialists, lately we had our first success through IVF in 2012 and very unfortunately it went aborted in third month. With the first time success in mind, we went for multiple iterations of the treatment and got success in 2016 but again the fate, it got aborted. We were totally nervous and not able to concentrate on anything both personally and professionally. Literally with all these medicines, resistance power of the body came down and struggled a lot with health issues.
Finally, after getting to know from couple of our friends and reviews, we have approached Dr. Padmaja madam and she assured that our case is very normal one and we would be definitely get succeeded in our journey.
I would like to thanks Dr. Padmaja Madam and Diwakar Reddy Sir for the kind of moral support/encouragement/guidance provided when we reached out to their center during the counselling sessions.
At a smaller age, we have seen many things which we did not expect and finally we opted for . Thanks to the supporting staff Jyotsna, Madhavi and Bhargavi madam’s. The staff were very co-operative and they understood the pain points and guided us in getting all the formalities done very quickly to kick off the process. When initially visited to Bhongir premises to check how it looks like, we were received by Bhargavi and shown, explained on the daily cycle of surrogates and what they offer to them. It was a pleasant experience and we were very much satisfied with that.
I am very thankful to the doctor’s team and the entire supporting staff as we have got our success with program and are feeling proud as TO BE PARENTS. I would like to thanks Dr. Padmaja Madam and Diwakar Reddy Sir for the kind of moral support provided when we reached out to their center.
This entire process is very transparent and we get all the reports/details as and when they complete at their end. Out of anxiety, I might have troubled Jyotsna/Bhargavi asking for an update/status but they never hesitated to do and always answered the call or did a text to me on the status.
After posting our results on the page, I have received around 5 calls who would like to go for this and I took time in explaining them on how it would be and shared my experience. Actually there's huge need among women with uterine health problems like born without uterus, with malformed uterus, removed for medical reasons, cardiac /Renal problems, unexplained recurrent miscarriages or multiple IVF failures etc, for genuinely n there are equal number of fit women voluntarily ready to help, leave apart so many service providers being ready to help....
There being no single complaint from any Commissioning Couple nor any Surrogate nor any there was any mishap concerning health of any surrogate or baby born etc, there is no need to stop it or put a hold on it and as the Bill 2016 if in the offing in next session of parliament and all of us the ART Centres are eagerly waiting for it !!!
It's all media creating a commotion, for their popularity recently in our Hyderabad ...!!!
It is humbly submitted to the government and decision makers in health department by all stake holders like genuinely need women with 'uterine health issues' who can't bear the child but have scope of having own 'baby' using their Sperm n Oocyte (sometimes a donor gamete in necessity of course which again is legal n done with consent) taking help of a voluntarily agreeing co-women (may be with a compensation in lieu of n for loss of 10 month working days, as mutually agreed) to help carrying her baby since she can't carry for medical reasons, and not for any "fancy reasons" as mistaken by media n as officials are mislead by crazy media, to consider to allow the to be in. vogue as, this has been in place for last 15 years and so many otherwise helpless women with no uterus by birth, uterus lost for cancer or medical reasons, uterus malformed, cardiac or renal problems, hypertension or diabetes, recurrent miscarriages or multiple IVF failures, have been blessed with their own baby and living life head high, as in our culture a women who couldn't give birth face a lot of social stigma....
There have been no particular complaint from any stake holders like 'Gestational carriers (surrogates)', commissioning couples or service providers interalia nor any such litigation cases pending between them in any court of law...a little bit of such ended up totally with a right decision of the government banning service to foreigners, sometime back itself.
Of course it's a prerogative for the Government to take any decision but considering the "impracticability" of a close relative only to be appointed as surrogate, the existing system may be kept in vogue, just considering the helpless innocent women's (not only affluent as often commented but middle classes too) woes who otherwise can't see their own genetic baby born to keep her head high and enjoy her life in In-Laws’ home...
We, all the stake holders, and genuinely needy women folk of the country, request the Honourable Prime Minister, the leader of the masses, The visionary of emerging India, The guiding force for the youth in the country, A Bhaiya for the women folk of India to give a deep positive thought by reconsidering the in our country which is not a social evil but a necessity for genuinely needy woman, and keep it in vogue as a “Compensated ” and the woman folk of India would worship Shree Modi jee as a “Saviour” by saving the last hope for Infertile Woman with uteri8ne issues.
The health department lead by all senior and bold officials may too look into the institution of which is a part of ART in our country, with all deep concern and right analysis. The recent survey of Saikiran hospitals in Hyderabad, as stated by the management, is a 'financial dispute' among some people associated with them in this project as partners...which lead to this big chaos, without any actual complaint from any stake holder like "Commissioning Couples" or "Gestational Carriers(Surrogates)" or service providers inter alia....
is not just 'bread n butter' for Fertility Centres, but a humane service to the helpless infertile women with just uterine health issues and bad luck of miscarriages, cardiac problems, failures etc.,
Calling it commercial activity, "Dandhaa", "Racket", "business" etc is uncalled for on part of media, which worldwide always see everything negatively without public concerns n issues....
In our Centre, like some other main service providers across India, have seen hundreds of young women with husband consent, voluntarily coming forward, not only for little 'compensation' but with a 'Big Heart' to help the helpless co-women to be blessed with birth of her 'genetic baby' to live in with due respect in society and it's a world wide phenomenon particularly in liberalist countries and societies like ours...
We pray the media and officials and organisations to see this as a small field where a humanely arrangement is made as a part of Infertility Treatment services but not for any 'unlawful gain' by hospitals as often commented by media ....we have seen all surrogates worked in last a decade, are back home and leading a normal life with their children and families and the hundreds of babies born through this yeoman medical service system of Assisted Reproductive Systems in our country, are living safely with their genetic parents....one has to appreciate the things being this systematic even without a law in place guiding them ....medical service people always look at the welfare of the people but not only money as alleged, at least in India and we should be proud of it...
All medical fraternity of the country request the Government not to be prejudiced on their services but regulate it wherever there is a need for, with a positive analysis and finally take a bold step "regulating" it but not stalling it...

This's the last attempt to save the system helping out many an infertile woman with uterine health issues as the last resort, by getting this petition singed in thousands and submitted to the concerned....pls do it fast and share to other groups on Facebook/WhatsApp and other social media, to make it possible in a big way....
The women with uterine health issues like, uterus absent by birth, malformed uterus, removed for any health reasons like cancer, recurrent abortions/miscarriages, multiple ivf failures, cardiac/renal/hypertension/diabetis kind of health issues feel it as a boon in disguise, to take service of another women sometimes within family or an outsider offering some remuneration for loss of working days, little more health concerns....!!!
It should not be compared with something like organ donation or slavery or utilisation of a human for some unlawful purpose but should piously be viewed as a woman helping out another on genuine reasons, of course some money is paid in lieu of the time spared and help extended.
There haven't been any disputes for all last one and half a decade, among any two stake holders like surrogates (aptly called as 'gestational carriers'), intending parents(lately called as 'commissioning couples') or service providers on any issues like health of surrogates, claim on babies born, remuneration to surrogates or breach of contract etc except one or two stray incidents of foreign couples like of baby gammy case etc, which need not be considered while examining allowing of this wonderful process for helpless woman to achieve motherhood, a cherished wish of any Indian woman in our given culture and social perceptions.
Adoption can never be an alternative to this arrangement however nobler it may be otherwise, and which option always be left over for suhnobler couples but having an offspring is largely opted by any one and taking away that opportunity from such helpless women on all hypothetical analysis put forth by some organisations is not a justified thing, depriving of an opportunity for many a woman to save her marriage, since incapability of child bearing often lead to breakage of Indian marriage..!!
In light of these above facts, it's apt to consider the comprehensive ART bill drafted in 2010 by PMBhargava Committee after a long deliberations with any suitable small functional corrections by parliament withholding the limited purpose bill 2016, to cover all issues concerned like ivf, gamete donation, and everything involved in Assisted Reoroductuve Techniques field in our country, where all concerned issues too could be regulated Iike standards and ethics of medical services concerned, age and health related concerns, books and records maintainance, formation of governmental agencies to regulate the field of activity are envisaged accordingly keeping in view the welfare of all involved.
There is ofcourse every reason to avoid services to foreigners as it paves way for multiple legal problems like citizenship issues, breakup of couples while it's in progress, abandonment of a child born for any reasons as are already seen in the last decade long service not only in India but elsewhere in the world, but considering it for OCIs is a genuinely justified as they are part of Indian society.
Before, taking a drastic step of total ban on commercial allowing altruistic one only which is almost impossible in the given present day Indian social scenarios and but for emergence of nuclear family system of late, would affect innumerable infertile woman with said uterine health issues depriving them of an opportunity to have cherished motherhood, where women just not for the money involved, are volunteering for the cause as it gives them immense satisfaction in seeing a smile on the face of a co woman.
The unscrupulous arguments like the is used for child trafficking, harvesting of organs for transplantation etc are baseless and wouldn't be resorted to by any one at least for the costs involved in the whole process and is monitored by the registered health service providers.
In the light of above facts, the 2010 draft of ART Bill may be examined and considered to have a comprehensive law on the field of human reproduction and fertility medicine in modern India.

Prashanthi Srikanth in the last week We are very thankful and grateful to the entire team at Dr. Padmaja IVF Center, Husbiguda. We have chosen this location after multiple failures at a well known hospital in Hyderabad who were greedy and unprofessional. As me and my husband were doing research online we came across Dr. Padmaja IVF and immediately we contacted Divakar Gaaru who is such a down to earth person, He responded within few seconds & talked to both of us and explained us about the entire process. He made sure that Jyosna reach out to us to explain on what needs to be done there after. We reached India for treatment in December 2015 and once we saw Dr. Padmaja we felt we were in great hands, she is very patient, has deep medical knowledge and a positive attitude. The entire staff at Husbiguda know their duties very well. I have never seen a single staff member in my entire 30 day treatment sitting or standing idle, they are constantly trying to help the patients with lot of care and attention. Our embryo transfer to the surrogate happened in mid Jan 2016 and we came back to the states praying god for positive news. After 2 weeks from the date of transfer we heard from Jyosna that the test is positive. The surrogate was shifted to Bhongir and we were in touch with Bhargavi who is such a humble and nice person i have ever met, we used to call her every week to know the details on how the surrogate is doing and she never put us down for anything. she has such a vibrant personality who is always cheerful to talk. Inspite of being so busy at Bhongir Bhargavi always responds to calls and sends a Whats app message if she is unable to take our call. Most of all the staff at Bhongir never ever forgot to send us the medical documents every month, such is the discipline of the staff at Bhongir. Another nice person to talk about is Ashok Gaaru at Bhongir who manages his duties very efficiently. We reached India couple of weeks before the Delivery and were able to see our surrogate, i was surpirsed by seeing the utmost care the staff was taking towards each and every surrogate and on the day of the delivery our surrogate was brought to Hubsiguda on time and everything was well planned and organised. We never had to complain about anything. Madhavi helped us feel relaxed during the final hours as me and my husband were so stressed. She is another person who handles the clients with a calm and charming attitude. After long wait we were blessed with a baby girl on September 12th, the pediatrician was already there during and after the delivery to make sure any emergency is addressed. Immediately after the delivery our Baby was handed over to us. The Joy of having a baby cannot be explained in words which can only be fulfilled by experienced and knowledgeable doctors like Dr. Padmaja Gaaru. Me and my entire family are so thankful and grateful to Dr. Padmaja Gaaru, Divakar Gaaru & the entire staff at Dr. Padmaja IVF Center Hubsiguda and Navya Nursing Home, Bhongir. We would also like to thank our Surrogate for carrying our child with care and love and finally we want to thank god for his gracious blessings as he is the one who made us choose this clinic. The PCPNDT (Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques) Act is one of the most draconian in the country, and doctors are being jailed for performing clerical errors in filling up the infamous Form F. The tragedy is that it has now been over 14 years since the Act was passed, and there's no evidence that it has helped to improve the sex ratio. It is high time we acknowledged that it is a badly crafted piece of legislation which has not served its purpose.
Part of the reason is because doctors were indifferent when the Act was being drafted, and we are now paying the price for this silence. Many doctors have stopped doing ultrasound scans during pregnancy, because they don't want to be harassed by overzealous officials; and pregnant women suffer because they are being deprived of access to this life-saving diagnostic technology.
The bigger tragedy is that we haven't learned from our mistakes, and exactly the same errors are being made during the drafting and passage of the ART Act, which is designed to regulate the practice of IVF in India.
For example, the ICMR guidelines today state that can only be performed for married couples, and there is a very high probability that this provision will be incorporated in the law, which means that will be banned for single men, single women and gays.
The guidelines have been designed in order to protect surrogates, and this is a laudable goal. However, they seem to be drafted by officials and activists who do not treat patients, and have no idea about what happens in clinical practice. IVF doctors are portrayed as being greedy mercenaries who exploit poor women, and do in order to earn more money and this misrepresentation has created a lot of conflict and tension.
In order to bridge this gap of misunderstanding, IVF doctors should invite officials and activists to their clinics so they can see the good work we are doing. We need to engage with them, so we can work as partners, and together draft a law which helps infertile couples to get the best medical care.
Doctors and patients cannot afford to keep quiet while the law is being drafted - we need to make our voice heard. The danger is that if we do not contribute to this debate, may end up being banned completely, under the pretext of protecting the surrogates. is an ethical means of family building - all we need to do is to make sure that it is regulated properly, so that it is not misused.
Sadly, IVF doctors are not united , and they have failed to speak up on behalf of their patients. Most doctors are so busy taking care of their patients that they don't have time to explain facts to officials in the Health Ministry and Parliament.
IVF doctors and infertile patients need to appoint a full-time lobbyist - for example, a retired senior professor of OB/GYN, who understands what is needed to create a win-win situation because she has treated infertile couples herself. She will command respect because of her medical expertise and experience; and she will be able to ensure that the voice of IVF doctors and infertile patients is heard in the corridors of power, so that the law will be fair to our infertile patients!
Sadly, the real life success stories - the celebrity patients who have benefited from - are not willing to speak up, because they don't see why they should bother to do so after they have successfully completed their family. Why should they care if others are deprived of the treatment in the future?
Celebrities have an important role to play in shaping public opinion because they are looked up to as role models by citizens. For example, Tusshar Kapoor should stand up for the rights of single men. He can take advantage of his public profile to ensure that they also have the freedom to use this option which has given him so much joy, in order to complete their own families in the future. Otherwise, vocal NGOs will get away with banning and single men will suffer, because IVF doctors will no longer be able to help them.
We need to get Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Tusshar Kapoor along with their IVF doctors on a TV show, so they can debate the pros and cons of banning with the activists who so vociferously want to prohibit it. This debate would allow Indians to get a realistic view as to why can be such a great reproductive option for building a family. This is the kind of open debate we need to ensure that public opinion is heard when the law is finally framed.
No one reading this article can afford to remain a silent spectator. You might think this does not concern you, but remember that this law will affect your rights, as well as the rights of your children. The ART bill affects all potential parents, because 10 percent of all married couples will have fertility issues and will need medical help to have a baby. The tragedy is that if we keep quiet at this juncture, articulate activists will get their way, and single Indian men, women and gays will no longer be able to pursue the same path Tusshar Kapoor did, because the law will prohibit them from doing . Laws which affect reproductive rights are too important to be left up to lawmakers alone.
India has always prided itself on being a broad-minded, permissive society, and we cannot keep quiet and allow a vocal minority to hijack the issue. Please speak to your doctor so he/she can explain what is at stake here.
IVF doctors and celebrities need to use their combined clout to make sure that the IVF law which will be passed is permissive and progressive. The goal should be to secure reproductive freedom for Indians, so that their reproductive rights are not curtailed.

If I would not have heard this story on my own, I wouldn’t be ashamed to be a journalist as I was two days ago. A doctor told me this real story and since then I am feeling like I should be ashamed and pity myself for all my life.
Sometimes you are not aware of the things happening in your profession. Sometimes they unfold as gentle as a silk and sometimes as a bundle of a barbed wire.
We had gone to Kanha National Park for Tiger Safari. In our excursion group we had a doctor from Jabalpur. As soon as we reached Kanha, heavy downpour began and electricity went off. We were sitting in the verandah of our guest house, listening to deer and barasingha bleating. I and this doctor picked up a conversation about professions. Me a reporter and this doctor from Jabalpur, started sharing our experiences.
What I heard next was the biggest blow to my ego and my face went down in shame, maybe forever.
Doctor was narrating the story. “I am a pediatrician. For some people, it has become a habit to abuse doctors, as it earns a cheap applaud from the rest of the society. If your patient recovers you are a god! Else you are a demon! Even in your TV and newspaper you put all your creative efforts to create a headline like “Doctor turned killer!” “Doctors or dacoits” and much more. Do you really investigate in depth about the authenticity of the news you ae publishing? Do you really take the pain to dig deeper for the truth behind the story sent to you by your reporter? I requested him to share the full story with me.
“We treat many thalassemia patients in our hospital. As you know, these patients require repeated blood transfusion in regular interval. Many times we manage blood from the relatives of the patient, sometimes we get no donor even for the transfusion. For some patients, the frequency of transfusion is so high that their relatives even give up and refuse to donate anymore. In this context, I would like to mention about a child from Jabalpur who used to come to our hospital often for the treatment of thalassemia.
Once my health was not good and I was on leave. At that time the child was brought to our hospital in an emergency. The child was in need of blood. Blood had to be replaced immediately. None of his family members were ready to give blood. Even before anyone had not given him blood. Our hospital would arrange blood for that child. Frankly, the entire hospital was in love with that baby and we were attached emotionally to him. On that day, when he was brought to the hospital, his condition was very serious.
One of our lady doctors was taking care of that child. The child's condition was deteriorating. He was admitted immediately. But unfortunately, we couldn’t save the child.
After the death of the child in the hospital, his relatives were shocked and they created a scene. They approached the media and told that the child was given the wrong blood. These reports were published in newspapers. Because of this, the entire medical career of the doctor was destroyed.
What happened next will explain later. But for now, it is important to note that the doctor had a media trial.
After a couple of days when my health was good, I reached the hospital. I called the father of that child and spoke to him. His father said that he was not knowing from where the blood was brought up. My child died because of the wrong blood.
I was listening to him quietly. I asked him that your child had received blood from this hospital number of times, but do you know where from that blood comes?He was stunned. Have you or any of your family members ever had donated blood for your child?
He remained silent.
You should know that till now mankind has not learned how to make blood. Whenever the need of blood arises it is given from someone else. We take blood from the relatives of the patient. But when they cannot donate their blood and the condition of the patient is grave, we turn to the blood banks. But when the blood banks are unable to provide us blood, we doctors give our own blood to the patient. You or any of your family members have never given a single drop of blood till date, while your child is given blood every fifteen days.
They were listening to me quietly.
“Listen sir, this time the blood that was given to your child, it was from one of those doctors, because of whom your child was alive for so many years. The blood of that very doctor was used to be given to your child on whom you had made allegations of negligence, eventually ruining her medical career by media trial. That lady doctor was donating her blood to your child ever since your child started visiting us. I don’t know why but she was very affectionate towards your child.
Some years ago, when you came here for the first time and your child was not able to get any matching blood donor; at that time the lady doctor had conducted her blood test. Your child’s and the doctor’s blood group matched. The other day also when you came in the emergency, she was the one who gave her blood. Her blood was already examined.
The situation was grave, your child could not survive. But you created a ruckus without even knowing the entire situation. You made false allegations on that very doctor who looked after your child as a mother, not as a doctor.”
The doctor got silent after saying this.
I was trying hard to hide my face from the doctor so that he could not see my emotions in the brightness of the light. I had read that report earlier. I could recall that a news had been published about the death of the child due to the doctor’s negligence.
I cursed the doctors a lot. I even compared them to an executioner. I used to have a strong feeling that these doctors don’t value anything over money. This was a government hospital, but I too had said that the doctors in a government hospital are really lazy and apathetic. They are devoid of any feelings for the patient. What not had I thought!
But all of my thoughts were baseless. I had just formed an opinion based on a one-sided report.
The other side of the story was now revealed to me.

We came to PFC after crossing many hurdles and failures. When my wife first seen the website of PFC she got stuck to it. She did not want to move anywhere else apart from PFC. When we visited the facility both at HABSIGUDA and BHONGIR, it was just like moving through the website, all identical as depicted in the website. A group of people categorised as overseas citizens of India (OCIs) have challenged a Central notification disallowing them from commissioning surrogate children in the country. In a petition before the Supreme Court, the OCIs termed the move as discriminatory.
Taking up the petition on Thursday, a bench of justices Ranjan Gogoi and NV Ramana asked the government to explain the logic behind leaving the OCIs out in the notification, even as the proposed law does not envisage it.
The SC is hearing a PIL filed by an advocate Jayashree Wad who complained that India had become a major hub for commercial in the world due to unregulated practice of the trade.
The Centre issued a notification in November to regulate commercial IVF in india, considered to be a $445 million annual business. As a part of stringent measures, the government banned import of human embryo except for research.
“Under what authority of law have you imposed this ban? Even the draft bill does not contemplate it,” the bench asked the government counsel who assured the court to be back with a response on April 13.
The judges also asked the government to spell out the fate of the bill that was to be tabled before the Parliament. They recalled that the solicitor general had on October 2015 said the bill was at a consultative stage and would be introduced in the Parliament soon.
“More than three months have passed what happened to the consultative process?” the bench asked the government advocate who said the bill was now pending before a parliamentary standing committee.
The orders issued on November 3 and 4 last year said stated that no Indian mission or foreign office shall issue visa to foreign nationals for this purpose. The detailed advisory by the MHA and health ministry go a step further to stop commercial even as the government works on a legislation to bar foreigners from renting a womb in India.
During the hearing, the bench indicated staying the notification in favour of the OCIs. However, on the request of the government counsel it did not issue any order.
The counsel said the purpose behind the notification was to extend the benefit to the “infertile Indian parents.”
“What is the law or mechanism by which you are stopping them (OCIs)? What is the policy? This is contrary to your bill,” Justice Gogoi heading the bench observed.
The Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) scheme launched in 2005 provides for registration as OCIs of all persons of Indian origin (PIOs) who were Indian citizens from January 26, 1950 or were eligible to become Indian citizens on that date and who are citizens of other countries, except Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Hi, Ms Haripriya, PRO, Gd Mrng, it's not like that you are bad or irresponsible, for your work in any other place you may be fit enough n think doing more than expected but using one's full potentials n expecting them to be rewarded well is the point, at least in a unique centre like ours where we put all joint efforts unfulfilling the dreams of the clients believing in us...where many a person don't find a proper placement fir that unluckily but it's not wise to go waste such opportunity if got n we coming from not so settled families a kind of middle class need to search for such n use all our mettle to make our own lives better...for that first we have to 'love' our career/profession n explore the avenues where we can prove ourselves with all sincerity, commitment n zeal too since the field happens to be anew for us...so we need to learn, digest, think over n explore new things which could make our position there still better adding colours to the organisation...our presence should matter a lot n our absence too...if one can enjoy the ecstasy of achievements then only one can pave new ways in advancing the cherished goals...as it comes to my mind, you have all such good qualities needful for your present placement where you are placed high, rightly or wrongly (you need to say that) with a "commitment", that's why 'executives' are counted to be 'on duty round the clock' (of course they are paid in the same way too n could enjoy the life but for such capacities) n that's the reason why they are given 'perks' deservingly n facilities too (like pfc gave all a 'paid phone' etc), n usually are considered to be in the management core group unlike the office assistants/cashiers etc., as we observe in the given scenario across the world...!!!

In present situation if I was Haripriya, named head of IVF & Donors Department so early just on joining, should have done that way n strive hard to show up my presence fruitful n achieving the goals n accomplish still more bright place for the beloved organisation where people are coming with a lot of hope n expectation, in the field where others could not do that convincingly !!! and would have shown all interest in the assignments given to me, shd have made a list of Providers, Donors n shd have made present donors as new providers n work on procuring quality donors which is an easy job if I kept it in my mind n it would have been a suicidal thing for me if I couldn't even know 'ongoing' donors leave apart the agents/previous donors/coming up donors etc, though I know that of course it's is not a'cakewalk' ...!!!
Of course, realisation on an 'eye-opener' from 'head of my lovely organisation' is a welcome thing n you have all qualities, capacities, efficiencies but what you need is, all the zeal, enthusiasm, plan n a goal, which, if you feel could do, is not impossible but lastly I just want to put it to you that in this kind of place we, the others including me wouldn't leave but take up the things left over with by you or any other PROs or Doctors or Staff will immediately take over such left over things n run fast to save it from eroding further as otherwise it takes very little time for our beloved clients to keep us aside n look out for their own alternatives n choices n options...!!!

I would have been a bad manager if I missed retaining you or didn't try moulding you to suit the slot here, of course we can't win in all situations but could in your case as you are a person with all sharp grasp, love, warmth, live lively each moment, poised to learn new things, brave to face, cry like a child, act like a warrior but need to be a bit more planned in using the day, shun some attitude things, egos, mould self more fatherly to the clientele etc as I see (if you don't get irritated), always see things to help others not looking at their responses very much as we expected, be bit more bold, not get easily irritated, think a bit more positively to be in the social fold ...after all life is to live each moment lively with all happiness n nothing but happiness, which at last is the ultimate essence of life, deriving which of course is hypnotically with no particular philosophy as it itself is a philosophy...keep it up n keep refining your own self in the way you just think fit, as me or anybody just only can guide, advise n try moulding but can't drag you where you don't want to head on !!!........as written to Jyotsna, PRO as part of training her to do wonders @ PFC....!!!

blessed with baby boy and girl (twins) last week. At the time of birth,
Boy was 2.8 kg weight and girl was 1.85 kg. Baby girl is bit
underweight however she is doing her activities normally. We along with

We came to PFC till last moment and planned to have delivery at our
centre. But unfortunately I have faced very severe ribs pain and
couldn't walk or sit continuously even for few minutes. Tried to come to

pain. Hence, with no other option due to severe pain, I have joined in a
nearby hospital and with god 's grace along with the wishes from people
like you and sir, we were blessed with healthy twins.

Hi Friends, It was a Great a Trip to HAWAII for the International Fertility Conference by AMERICAN SOCIETY OF REPRODUCTIVE MEDICINE and It was a feast of knowledge and touring the nature....the conference as usual was with all set for new vigour and new strength among the Fertility Medicine Practitioners worldwide and it was a great platform for sharing the ideas, experiences, innovations, findings around the world in ART Techniques which will go in a big way boosting up the knowledge of delegates and also all other doctors watching the program otherwise....this apart our trip to the Big Island was awesome as we were awe-stuck staring at the live balconies in a series there some big n some small, some sleeping n some erupting....it looked like we were in a different world as we found the cooling down Lava, shiningly lush green jungles, flowing streams and plying traffic all together side by side rounded up by the bustling waves of the sea.....the helicopter ride taking us right unto the mildly erupting big Volcano was a lifetime experience and the heat waves could be seen like rings of fire .... The life in the busy tourist place of Hawaiian Islands was a great experience where we could watch the historical "Pearly Harbour Attack Site" and many other worth seeing places....the Knowledge attending the Annual ASRM Meeting clubbed with relief we got visiting one of the must see places of the world 'the Islands of Hawaii' made us come back home to repudiate ourselves in the mission of mitigating the vows of the desperate childless couples knocking at the doors of PFC-the buzz name in Indian Fertility Field...!!!

Let me ThanQ first for sparing some time to go through this site which
made hundreds of Infertile Couples Worldwide make it big in their life
inviting a New Member into their families through ART procedures like
IUI, IVF, ICSI, SURRGCY got done at this Centre during the Last One
Decade.....coming to the point now, we present here some of the Twins
Born @ PFC, Hyd and we see 40% incidence of Twins in n quite a
number of them in IVF-ICSI n sometimes in IUI too....the more of Twin
Births in Srrgcy is because of the "Womb of Choice" unlike in any other
procedures, and as we employ young (24 to 34 yrs) Srrgt's with very good
Endometrium of 12mm+ n a Proven one having delivered at least one baby
already n screened thoroughly for all infections, examined well on
family n personal health background etc., But Dr Padmaja rather doesn't
encourage Twin Pregnancy as there lies some risk with the same resulting
sometimes in miscarriages and premature births etc., but we have seen
such things seldom happened here and almost all Twins have been born
full term with average weight of 2.5kg each n are given away to Parents
straightaway without any paediatric care needful except in one or two
cases rarely....
